After many months of meaning to start this blog, today is the big day! I just got my swap partner for a new Flirty Apron Swap. I am really looking forward to making a new apron for my partner, and getting a fun holiday themed apron in return. We have also had some real fun here at the house. Ryssa's little papillion Muse had her first healthy puppy. A little girl. She is now 24 hours old, and so tiny and cute. Soon there will be pictures posted. Needless to say we did not get much sleep last night.
I love working with my hands, especially creating beautiful things. I have been making my first full sized afghan out of beautiful peruvian wool. I found a wonderful pattern on Ravelry.com, a great site for knitting and crochet information. Since May I have been working on learning the pattern, purchasing yarn, and of course, construction. The blanket calls for 244 Africaans flowers. I have 108 finished. Pictures to come soon....
If I were not so technically challenged, pictures would be uploaded now. But alas and alak, I have to get Amara to help me. So it will wait a little longer.
One more handwork project to write about...In our ward we have been asked to donate a quilt for the needy this holiday season. So I asked my Mom if she had any extra fabric. She gets 9" fabric squares from her local Deseret Industries, and then creates quilt tops. She then gives the quilt tops back to D.I. where they are made into warm quilts and distributed through LDS Humanitarian Services. So she brought over 200 or so squares, and I hunted through patterns until I found scrappy style quilt patterns that can be created from random donated fabrics. I came up with 4 really cute ideas, and will start documenting my 2 week journey in making quilts to donate.
I am really excited about this blog. I love to journal, but haven't made time for it in years. How great is it that I can blog my life and ideas? Hopefully my kids and family will enjoy my posts. Ready, set....here I go!
